Primitivo Doppio Passo Salento

Region
This rich location along the Adriatic coast is the home of the Primitivo grape variety (identified as the origin of California’s Zinfandel variety). With a hot coastal environment and chilly night breezes, the Salento penninsula produces rich red wines with relatively high alcohol levels and delicate, rounded tannins.

Tasting Note
Primitivo grapes thrive in a warm environment with lots of rain and long hours of sunlight, as well as soil that contains limestone, clay, or sandstone.

This robust Primitivo Doppio Passo Salento is a powerful red from Brindisi and is created in the same way as a Ripasso wine, with a percentage of dried Primitivo grapes and a second fermentation on the dried skins.

As a consequence, the wine is smooth, round, unusually full-bodied, and fragrant, with an incredible concentration of plum, blackberry, cherry, and chocolate flavours and an attractive structure with soft tannin and acidity. It features fresh, varietal aromas in its youth that develop more nuanced with age.
