Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port 37.5cl is produced by Wiese and Krohn, founded in 1865 and located in the Douro Valley of Portugal. Two Norwegians, Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, created Wiese & Krohn, which initially shipped throughout Scandinavia and Germany. Krohn has established an enviable reputation in the century and a half since its founding. They offer a wonderfully complete variety for a small house, and each wine shines in its category.

Krohn specialises in rich, fruit-forward ruby and tawny ports made from indigenous grapes grown on the company’s own vineyards. The hot, dry Douro climate yields concentrated, flavourful grapes perfect for producing aromatic, complex ports.

Viticulture and Production

The grapes for Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port 37.5cl are hand-picked and foot-trodden in lagares to gently crush the berries. Fermentation is halted by adding grape brandy, retaining natural sweetness and fruit flavours. The port is then aged for two years in large oak vats before bottling.

Brilliant ruby in colour, Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port 37.5cl greets the nose with fragrant aromas of fresh red and black fruits like cherry, raspberry and plum, complemented by hints of spice.

The smooth, luscious palate reveals rich flavours of ripe berry fruit and dark chocolate.

Silky tannins provide structure to the full, fruity body and lead into the lingering finish.
