Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port is crafted by Wiese & Krohn, a distinguished Port house founded on the banks of the Douro River in 1865. Though perhaps lesser known than some giant Port brands, Wiese & Krohn has quietly built a stellar reputation for quality ports highlighted by vibrant fruit and silky texture. The company remains family-owned, producing ports entirely from their own vineyards in the Douro Valley.

Viticulture and Production

Sourced from low-yielding, ancient vines, the grapes for Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port thrive in the hot, arid Douro climate. The grapes are still trodden by foot in traditional stone lagares to gently extract colour and flavour before fortifying with brandy. Aged for two years in large, old oak casks, the ruby port absorbs subtle oak notes while retaining fresh fruit character.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in the glass, Krohn Ambassador Ruby Port delights the nose with aromas of juicy red cherries, raspberries and black plums, lined with hints of spice.

The palate is smooth and generous, bursting with flavours of fresh berries, dark chocolate and spice.

Seamless tannins provide structure, leading to a long, fruit-filled finish of toasted nuts and subtle oak.
