Irene Morales Chardonnay Grand Reserve: A Complex Chilean Chardonnay
Irene Morales Chardonnay Grand Reserve is produced by Darwin Vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, Chile. The winery is dedicated to crafting premium wines that capture the unique terroir of Chile. The skilled winemaking team uses innovative techniques combined with a passion for excellence.
Irene Morales was a seamstress who showed remarkable courage during the War of the Pacific in the late 1800s. Defying gender norms of the time, she disguised herself as a man to fight on the front lines. Morales was the first woman to become a sergeant in the Chilean army and wear a military uniform. She became a symbol of women’s bravery and contributions to Chile’s independence.
Viticulture and Vinification
The Chardonnay grapes for Irene Morales Chardonnay Grand Reserve come from specially selected vineyards in the Casablanca Valley. Cooling ocean breezes result in grapes with bright acidity and intense aroma. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are barrel-fermented and aged on lees in French oak for 12 months, enhancing complexity.
