Chateau L’Ermitage Rouge ‘Auzan’: A Spicy Southern Rhône Red
Chateau L’Ermitage is an historic estate located in the Costières de Nîmes appellation of France’s Southern Rhône valley. The vineyard sites benefit from cooling Mediterranean breezes that temper the hot summer climate, producing grapes with balance and concentration. Chateau L’Ermitage farms organically and is currently in conversion to full certification.
Viticulture and Vinification
This wine blends Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from 25-year-old vines rooted in gravelly soils. Yields are kept low at 50hl/ha. Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented traditionally for 15 days in tank.
